We had spent the night in Kingman, AZ on Historic Route 66, at the Silver Queen Inn. Now I am happy that I can tell people I stayed on the historic route before it totally disappears. We drove to Lake Havasu to see London Bridge. Once we arrived, we walked around and on the bridge and ate at Shugrue's Restaurant that overlooks the bridge. It had been almost 18 years since I had been, and my memory of the last time I went was the Monte Cristo sandwiches that were sooo good and the souvenir shirt that I left in the restaurant. Needless to say, they did not have my shirt and the sandwiches were still phenomenal!!! This is a must try restaurant for anyone going!!! The bridge and the views it has to offer is absolutely beautiful. They have a riverboat that would have been nice to take a ride on, but with scheduling, maybe next time.
After Lake Havasu, we drove to the Hoover Dam on the way to Las Vegas. Jaz was only interested in the fact that it had been used in the movie, Transformers. I guess whatever it takes. It was amazing to see how low the water level was. We spent a couple of hours walking around and taking pictures. We arrived a little late to take any of the tours, but it was nice to see the views. There was construction going on for a higher bridge, so the traffic was crazy! I think it will be cool to drive on once it is finished.
Viva Las Vegas!!! We drove on to Las Vegas and spent the evening in Circus Circus. We used to stay there when we took our road trips and I thought Jaz would have a good time. Circus Circus is great for kids, the whole floor of circus games, the arcade, and the circus performances every 20 to 30 minutes.
We drove through the night and arrived about 6 am. Good thing my dad did not have to go to work until that night! As we were arriving to Battle Mountain, the sun was rising on the mountains and it was absolutely beautiful. The power plant my dad works at is along the way, it is located on a ranch that powers a mine close by. We drove around the town so I would know where things were while my dad was working. It really would have been difficult to get lost!! The town is so small, but I thought it was a cool little town.. They at least had a couple of casinos, a pizza place, one gas station, and a Mcdonalds. Other than the beautiful sights of the mountains, those were the highlights of the town!
