dolomites

i have been driving from Milan to Bolzano for almost 3 hours, reaching Alpe di Siusu after other 40 minutes.
You need a special permit to go into the Alpi di Siusi Park, one of the better spot in all europe for walking. No cars, several perfectly marked tracks, allows you to spend days of wonderfull hiking around SASSO LUNGO and SASSO PIATTO, the well know dolomites mountains. The bast track that i advice is the "sentiero augusto", that drive around the mountains at a constant level around 2200 meters. You can find animals, and every 2 hours a perfect"rifugio", a perfect place for eating and sleeping with othe people. Another great walk is to go directly up to Sasso Piatto, on the top of the mountain. It takes almost 4 hours from Alpe di Siusi compach, but gives memorables view on dolomites, then you can sleep at the rifugio Sasso Piatto, one of the best spot in Italy
