One night in Doha
April 2, 2008
It was my first time aboard alone. I left home with all the hopes, dreams, doubts and worries but once the plane took off I knew that it was the point of no return; only one way out was to finish this trip.
Qatar airline took me to Doha in 4 hours from BKK and I arrived at 11 pm. I actually had to spend 11 hours in Doha; fortunately, the airline prepared a room for me. Once I passed the immigration I was one of the three women in the airport. The rest of them which were around 70 something were guys. I've never been in Muslim country before and I didn't know how to behave myself. I didn't know when and where is the point that I cross their border. I just walked through the gate to wait for my shutter bus and I kept looking on the floor not more than 2 meters from my feet.
I waited for the bus for an hour in the middle of the night and in the middle of 5 Arabic guys. I felt like Alice in wonder land :p To be honest I was scared of them since I heard that we, as Thai women, don't have good reputation for Arabic. I tried to look Chinese though but the furthest I could be was Vietnamese, hehehe :p
However, all I thought was totally wrong. Those Arabic guys were so nice and polite. They helped me chasing the bus and talked to me. We even made jokes to each other. I really had my lesson that day that I should not judge people from the outside.
I stayed in Grand Regency Hotel with the best bed and pillow I've ever leaned on but it was so cold that I woke up sick in the morning. So I just put my headphone on and danced around to heat myself and get sweat. Then I felt better....Phewwwwww!
Now the real trip began after the plane taking off to Turkey where lies my life-long dream.
