One thing I like about Turkey is that the people are so inviting and they are so proud of showing their country. Everywhere I went I always met school tour with bunch of kids. When I walked pass all the kids will shout "Hello" to me and it was contagious through all the line. If you reply with "Merhaba" they would be so glad to here that.
Another thing in Istanbul that I cannot forget is the FOOD!! My most favorite is Kofte. Birol took me to an old Kofte restaurant which is recommended by Lonely Planet as well. And Borek, some kind of pastry, Locum (Turkish Delight), Cay (Turkish tea drink with 2 sugar), zimmit (Turkish version of pretzel eat with Cay). Ohhh it's an eating paradise indeed.
One of my favorite place was Hazal, a Nargile restaurant in the uptown area by the lake where serve variety of water pipe (Nargile) flavor. I tried only apple and strawberry but they do have Kiwi, pineapple, etc that sound interesting to me unfortunately I didn't go back there again.
