Snap shots are not free!

Cusco Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

I had an amazing time in Peru. Spent time in Cusco, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu and Lima. Adjusting to the altitude of Cusco was unquestionably necessary. The people, their crafts and the ruins of this region are simply beautiful.
It occurred to me that sometimes we are not warned about simple things concerning travel. Be aware that you can't expect to simply snap shots of all the interesting looking people of Peru. Most times, you will be expected to pay for the picture you took of the lady holding the cute lamb, etc. Many of the people don't seem to mind a few shots but in return, many ask to be paid for their interestingness, lol. So, if you must have that shot of the lady with the cloth on her back which is holding a young child, have some change loose and then offer it to her.

I think the lady holding the lamb is usually holding it with the sole purpose of attracting tourists to take pictures with it. I totally got sucked in by a baby alpaca.

It's nice to walk in Cusco, Peru. Cusco is a great place to experience. The thing about it is that you must go back up-hill at some point. If you get the urge to become lazy, take a taxi cab. The rates are ultra cheap. I paid something like 1 sol from a restaurant to my hotel. 1 sol is about 1/3 of $1 US.

Ah yes. It physically hurt to pay for taxis after we came back from Peru
