The BIG day in the Big Apple!
Saturday morning I awoke with a startle! WTH happened??? Where was I??? Slowly, things began coming back...at least some things. Getting out of bed, I realized the alcohol was still in my system. But I felt pretty good, all things considered, and was ready for a new day. Jillian, Stephen, and I then went down to the hotel restaurant to get some kind of nourishment other than fermented grapes. After breakfast it was time to hit the city as tourists. Joy joined us after breakfast and we all decided to do the Duck tour in the duck-mobile. It was a nice way to see parts of manhattan as well as taking a boat ride on the Hudson River to see the city from a distance.
After our duck tour, Stephen (jaxsully) was waiting on us at an Italian restaurant by the David Letterman Late Show Studio.
We all had to have some New York style pizza! The pizza was great, as was the company. Matt also joined us for pizza. And after our afternoon lunch it was already time to get back to the hotel to begin preparing for the MAIN EVENT, which was to begin at 6 PM.As the 3JXPRESS was getting ready at the room, we decided to have some drinks...we bought a bottle of wine and 3 shots of Patron from the hotel bar. This would get us primed for the night ahead!!! In hindsight, maybe we didn't need any priming. J1 did two shots of Patron, I did one, and Joy and I had the bottle of wine! Yep, we were already feeling good! jaxsully and the 3JXPRESS took a cab to the Delancey and were greeted inside by the hosts, Natasha and Jeff.
We were then directed upstairs where the party had already started. There were several TBs I had already met from the night before, and several new ones, too. Nicole was one of the first TBs I talked with for the first time. Then I met Ruthie for the first time...for the second time! haha I also met for the first time Mario, Val, Mike, Lynette, Liz, Nancy, Rob, Heather, Helen, and Nicolas. Geez...I know I'm forgetting somebody. I am sure I will be coming back to update this list, too. It was an unbelievable time, mingling with all these TBs, refilling my wine glass every 5 minutes, and snapping pictures whenever I happened to think about it. At 8 o'clock the open bar closed (many of us rushed to the bar to get refills and a second drink for the trip down below) and then we all moved down stairs where the dancing ensued.
Thank you Peggy for being my dance partner again! And also to Rachel (non-TB), who I ended up abandoning for urgent matters! Sorry, Rachel! If you join the site, I will explain. hahaSo, remember when I stated earlier that in hindsight we didn't need any priming?!?!?! WE DIDN'T!! By 10:30 in the evening the 3JXPRESS was catching a yellow back to the Flatotel. WAY TOO MUCH TO DRINK!!! LOL Enough said...end of story:) And so my lesson learned here, at least when you're meeting a large group, is go crazy one night but be somewhat reserved on the drinking the other night so you can be sane enough to meet people...and remember them! HAHA
Oh well, it was still a terrific night and TB meetup.
