cliffs of moher -- galway, ireland
on the way up to galway we stopped at the cliffs of moher, poulnabrone in the middle of the burren, and a cool looking castle-the only one in all of ireland you can rent. and if you've got the dough to rent it, it comes with a full medieval costume party! we also took a short 20 minute boat ride across the shannon river.
the cliffs look beautiful in postcards, however we could barely see them through the mist, rain, and wind that were abundant on the day we visited. regardless the sheer 700ft drops of these cliffs were unbelievable; the fact that they're natural make it even more wonderful. despite the hazy weather, they were still gorgeous.
in poulnabrone we stopped to visit "the wall of sorrow" -- a 5,800 year old tomb out in the middle of what's called the burren. which, by the way, is prounounced just the way it's written. the burren not poulna-- actually both of them are said just the way they're spelled...
