after a long night/early morning at the pub crawl, i slept in late! it´s nights like these that really makes your age show through! the entire dorm actaully slept in pretty late. traveling wears you out!
after finally waking up i spent the whole day at the out of this world cuidad de las artes y las ciencias buildings. it´s so huge i gave in to the fact that i would have to buy a postcard to get a photo of the entire thing. it consists of four buildings, with one more currently being built - an opera house, an eye shaped imax theatre, an interactive museum, and the oceanographic - which was basically an aquarium like zoo that i totally loved! it reminded me of sea world!
at my first stop i met matt, a guy from canada who was driving through france and spain for a bit and was at the end of his trip.
you know, some people take this hosteling business seriously! tonight in the kitchen we watched some brazilians as they brought out herbs, vegetables, and mussels and started washing them in white wine! so much for spaghetti; these guys made a gourmet feast! i mean the market here in valencia is amazing, huge, and one of the oldest in spain. and when i walked through it i thought man i wish i was a better cook and could do something with all this great food. they did just that i suppose! i wrote down the recipe for future use. ;0)
i marvelled over the epicurian skills of the brazillians with some people in the kitchen - louie (from australia), miriam (the netherlands), and anna (australia). turned out we were all in the same room and we decided to attempt to go to the valencia futbol game tomorrow! yay!
