Quinta da Regaleira

Sintra itself is a can't miss type of a city, and the Quinta de Regaleira is icing on the cake. Coming up the road and around the corner, I was stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the amazing mansion. Once I entered the grounds it got even better! One can spend hours on end wandering and literally getting lost in the gardens and it's underground tunnels. It's full of wells, lakes, waterfalls, statues, spiraling stair cases and towers, an aquarium, fountains, grottos, breathtaking views -- everywhere you turn there's a different path to take and every one of 'em you'll want to venture down! To be honest I felt like I was in a completely different world while I was there, and hours flew by without me even realizing it! It's a place i'll never forget, and hope some day to return to.
