Inside the "Hanging Church"

Luckily the train ride did only go for 9 hours.  Got to have a couple of hours at the hotel to shower and have a nap.

Then we went out to see the "Hanging Church" which is an old Christian church in cairo and has nothing to do with hanging people but was built on top of the ruins of an even older Christian church, which you can see underneath it.  Then we went to see a mosque which is apparently the oldest one in all Africa.

In the afternoon we went to the Egyptian Museum, which was pretty interesting because we had our tour guide with us to tell us the stories behind the exhibits.  Saw the Golden mask of Tutankamon and a bunch of the stuff that was found in his tomb.  Also saw a bunch of the Royal Mummies, including the mummy of Ramses the 2nd which still has hair and fingernails!!!

Went to the markets in the middle of Cairo, which was much smaller than i was expecting and was much more annoying than i expected.  In the evening we went to the Sound and Light Show at the pyramids, which was rubbish and mostly a waste of time.

Spent the next morning by the pool (deja vu) and then headed to the airport for my annoyingly delayed flight back to London
