Hôtel de Ville
On one of my last days in the city (although I didn't know it yet), Alex had to work, as did most of my friends.  I spent the morning wandering around my favorite haunts, getting the touristy pictures that I had failed to get last fall.  The plan was to just stick to the 1st Arrondissement, going from Châtelet over to Quai des Orfèvres, and then across to Saint Michel.  I had lunch with Steph at the Great Canadian (near Saint Michel), then continued walking down Boulevard Saint Michel until I wound up at the Jardin du Luxembourg.  Since I had gone so far by then, I went over to the 14th and stopped in at La Madeleine for some much-needed spiritual cleansing.

Alex and I broke up that night, so the next day (4th of July) I spent with the Marines out in Boulogne, then came back into town and watched the Italy/Germany game at the Longhop that evening.  My mom called me right around midnight to tell me my grandfather passed away, so the next morning, the fifth, I hopped on a plane to Zurich, which eventually led me back home.  A whirlwind trip, indeed.
