Last Leg - Weekend in LA - Part 1

Finally arrived in LA, after one heck of a trip, which involved elephant seals and Redwood trees and neary monthballed B&B's and some very posh hotels along the way. There's a weekend to kill, and with so many places to visit, and prior committments with old friends and so many things to do in Los Angeles, it's going to be a humdinger of a weekend.

So what I have planned is basically a foodie tour of LA, with stopovers at sundry museums and shopping malls along the way, a few hours at the Santa Monica Pier, a visit to the La Brea Tar Pits and some celebrity hounding at the nightclubs in West Beverly Hills. I have a few friends to visit in Sherman Oaks, so maybe a couple of hours lounging around the Sherman Oaks Galleria might also be in order.

Where to stay is a good question, and I knew the weekend was going to end up going way over budget, so it might be a wise idea to be conservative about lodging. Probably at the Magic Castle Hotel on Franklin Ave. I've stayed there before, so I know what to expect, and it fits right into my budget ($164 per night), and the location is just about perfect for a tour of Universal Studios and for everything Hollywood.

I'm a burger fan - It's kinda like I dig up burger joints any where I go to - so what we need here is a list of the best burgers in Los Angeles. Hoping to so a few hours of research and having a well mapped plan of action ready before hitting the streets.
