A car today, so we are off
October 29, 2007
We finally got a car delivered to our hotel. It's actually an 8 seater van but we will be heading for Queenstown in it so it was at a cheaper rate as they needed it taken back. We headed out for the beachside suburb of New Brighton. We had lunch in a little place called 'Salt on the Pier'. We were able to look out at the ocean and the snow capped mountains. Our sort of scenery. We then drove to another seaside suburb called Sunmer and walked through a little cave on the beach. From there we drove up the hillside road called Taylor's Mistake Road. Not for the faint hearted but worth it for the views. Frm there we headed for a seaside town, Akaroa. On the way we went past the gondola and then went through the tunnel. We went along the coastal road, again not for the faint hearted but so pretty. It was about 6.30pm by the time we got there. Thank goodness for daylight saving. We sat and had a cuppa and enjoyed the weather. Not a lot there but it is one of the many places that they do cruises from. We headed back to Christchurch on the main road that most people go on because it was getting late. We got back to the appartment and ordered dinner again. Tommorrow we set off again.
