For the record, to figure out the time here, subtract 15 minutes from Seattle time, then make it the opposite of your time of day. So right now it is 9:23am which means it is around 9:38pm U.S. time.
Probably Friday or Saturday I will fly down to Chitwan Nation Park and spend a couple of days. Activities there will include a jungle hike, watching them bath the elephants and an elephant safari (where the elephants will run alongside rhinos).
Back in Kathmandu, I hope I can capture the extreme poverty of the place in my pictures. I know I can't save the world, but it makes me feel good to know I'm contributing in a very small way by sponsoring Arun. When I do my photo show at the Mountaineers in May, I hope can also line up some potential sponsors to talk to Earle. I may go to an orphanage while here, so I'll have even more heart-wrenching photos.
When I got back to the guesthouse yesterday, I was informed that there was a better room for me. I gladly switched, though the room still is marginal. At least I now have a toilet seat that is attached and a place to hang my clothes. It’s also right beside Earle’s room.
