I'm Tokyo, finally!!! I was researching Japan for about 3 months before I booked the flight. I was scanning LonelyPlanet.com for tips from fellow travellers. The flight was uneventful, people were very quiet already on the plane - movie on the plane Aeon Flux - so so movie.
I guess, I better turn on the charm and be chatty with some locals/foreigners. I have two pages of my 'cheat notes', conversational Japanese terms to get by with locals. Makiko, who I met in Morocco during a vacation last year, picked me up at the Airport. Thank goodness she did, or I'll take forever to figure out the subway lines. Yeah, I still need to master their metro system. There was three options (trains) to choose to get out of Narika airport. I was faster when she did it and explained me the process.
Tonight, we went out to dinner at a local Japanese ramen place.
Friday is my first day to go sight seeing. I'll take the local tourist map and start a plan. Oh, planning to check out the local lesbian bar in the Rappongi area, let's see how that goes Friday night.
OK, gotta do my other errands, reserve my tickets to Kyoto, Hiroshima and Yamagata. Gotta call my co-worker's friend bec they are rolling the red carpet for me in Yamagata. I'm suffering for jet lag currently so I'm heading to bed soon. I'm also stuck in a dorm room full on euro guys - Tokyo Backpackers Matsushima Hotel (http://www.tokyobackpackers.com/en/group_reservation.php).
Bummer they are going to be snoring tonight, better use my earplugs.
