We arrived in Phuket only to see rain! grr. The bus ride was great actually, it was like a flight! There were bus attendants that fed us! And I slept pretty good. Its always a rush when you get to a new place and have no idea anything about it and nowhere to stay, and this was the first one so we were a bit stressed. But a bunch of Thai people pointed us in the right direction. We found someone to book us a place and get a taxi there. Which was more of the 2 of us in a big van. Wierd.
We got dropped off at our hotel 'Aloha Villa'..sounds pretty fancy...and it wasn't too bad! We had air conditioning..and cable TV..and a clean bathroom. Life is good. We spread out our shit in our room and then went exploring.
first drinks in phuket
Our hotel was right near the main strip of bars so we wandered in that direction, looking for a place to get our first Thai massage. We wandered around for a while, looking for the best deal til we found something on a side street for 200 baht, the women pretty much tackled us when they saw Angela and I head down that street..I guess something about us screamed 'We are looking for cheap Thai massages'..whatever, we went with them. I'd never had a massage before so this was my first one ever, and apparently they are nothing like that, but I thought it was great..and cheap.
After the massage we went over to take a look at the beach..that coulda been before the massage, I can't remember. Either way, the beach seemed pretty average. Probably because of the weather. Afterwards we headed to the strip of bars to get a drink and people watch.
at the aussie bar
We spotted our bar, the Aussie Bar. Got some Singha beers and chatted for a while. Watched some footy. Then this old man started talking to us, explaining that him and his mates were there on a cricket tour and they had a match against Thailand and asked if we wanted to join them and we figured why the heck not, so we caught a tuk tuk with 3 of them to their hotel, about 15 minutes away. Their hotel was amazing!! 5 star. We waited around for them for a while, but it was raining so it was possible the cricket could be cancelled. We had a drink, I'm a cheapass and ordered a coke, but they said they'd just charge it to their room..hello pina coladas! haha. So it turned out the cricket did get cancelled. But one of the older men was really drunk so decided to teach us to play cricket in the hotel lobby, one of the funniest things I've ever done! Afterwards Angela and I were a bit hungry as we hadn't eaten yet so the guys showed us to the restaurant at their hotel.
They told us to order whatever we wanted, but I felt bad so I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, buut everyone made fun of me and forced me to change my order to salmon. Fine by me, as long as I'm not payin! haha. Dinner was followed by some crazy dancing and singing with the singer at the restaurant. Fun times, then 8 of us took a taxi back to Patong
beach. We went to the Aussie bar(of course) and had some drinks. Wandered around for a while looking at all the funny people. I lost Angela for a while, which was stressful! But yay we found her. I didn't stay out TOO late, things got a bit awkward, but I won't go too into that. Great night overall though!
