Kissing the Blarney Stone

The bus ride to cork last night was straight forward enough and thankfully the hostel wasn't too far away.  As we got in fairly late and weren't hungry we went to bed.

The main reason we came to cork was to see and kiss the Blarney Stone so after a massive walk around the city (which has no character and is just a big shopping district) looking for an information centre (couldn't find it) we went to the bus station to find what bus to take to Blarney Castle - and thankully there was a bus and it was leaving shortly, so we jump on the bus for the short ride to Blarney.

This is a cool place and well worth a visit.  You get to walk through the ruins of the castle and climb all the way to the top of the main tower, walk across the walkway on the roof and kiss the stone.
Now to kiss it you actually need to lie on your back, slide the top part of your body off the walkway and towards the outer wall which is a fair gap, lean your head backwards (which is towards the ground) to reach the stone.  Thankfully there is someone there to hold onto you and they've put stell bars to stop people falling to the ground.  We spent a few hours here walking around, threw some small sticks in the river to see who would be the fastest and relaxed a bit.  Once we got back to Cork we grabbed some food from the market and shops and ate in.  Had a terrible sleep that night as a group of French people decided to gather out on the side road at about midnite and talk non stop for quite some time - not impressed.
