We decided to get the later bus out to Pula to give us some time to sleep in and not have to rush around in the morning – and it was a good thing as everyone wanted to use the showers. We had time to spare so we made up some fruit salad for breakfast and waited for everyone to finish before we sorted ourselves out. We spent a few hours in the hostel lounge just passing time and checking the internet for loading up and walking the 30mins to the bus station.

We arrived in Pula just before 6 and caught the local bus service to our apartment (no hostels, just apartments). On the bus the driver turned on the radio to listen to the euro cup between Croatia and Germany. Of course we couldn't understand the commentary but we understood when Croatia kicked the first goal as everyone on the bus cheered and the driver began honking the horn. By the time we had checked in it was half time and as we wanted to see the rest of the game we headed over to the small bar.

We sat and watched the rest of the game cheering on Croatia like a local. Everyone in the place was yelling and screaming when the final whistle blew and Croatia had won. Shortly after people were driving around with the flags out the windows yelling and honking. It was great to see the national pride in action.

There was a little restaurant just down the road and was the only one close by so we went there for a meal. The T-bone that Bec got was the biggest one we'd ever seen. We kept wondering if they'd bought out the right meal because the menu said baby cow and this was a monster, but as it had the sauces and sides right, guess it was a bad translation. We were both stuffed after the meal and as we didn't know if there was anything nearby to see or do and we had plenty of days in Pula to go, we headed back for some sleep.
