We walked around from the hostel to the main square looking for the tourist info shop when we found that local firefighters we putting on a bit of a show for the town and the army band was also playing.  Can't pass this sort of entertainment up so we sat down, watched and listened for a while.  The firefighters eventually did a display showing how they get people out that are trapped in cars.  Had everyone watching intently.

After that we went to info shop and checked out the travel timetable back to Ceske Budejovice and also possible ways of getting to Austria.  We noticed while there that the local brewery Eggenberg do tours so we took a brochure ready for the following day.  We spent the rest of the afternoon walking up and around the castle grounds, checking out the bears in the bear pit and looking out over the town and enjoying the great view.  While up there we noticed a small beer garden which was by the river and had a pianist playing so once we made it back down we stopped in a enjoyed a drink while listening to the music.

It started to get dark and a bit cooler so we thought it time to get some dinner.  On the walk through town we'd noticed a restaurant advertising garlic soup so we headed there for a meal.  We had the soup and chicken which had been cooked on the fire - all washed down with some local red wine.
