Arrived in the little cliff side town of Riomaggiore late in the afternoon after taking 4 different trains which took a total of 4 hours. But it was worth it just to see the ocean and feel the warmth of the sun.
After walking up a steep hill to the accommodation reception, we were then escorted back down the hill then up a variety of steps to get to our place. We had booked a 6 bed dorm so we were very happy to be put in a 2 + 3 bed apartment so we don't have to share a room with anyone.
We thought about going for a quick dip in the ocean as it felt very warm and humid, but after a short walk around we couldn't actually find where people were swimming, just where they were sitting around enjoying the view. We headed back into the centre of town and sat down for a beer and soak up the surroundings. The town is very small with what looks like only one road and lots of tiny little paths winding between the different coloured buildings. Could easily spend a long time here just relaxing.
We cooked up some great pasta and green pesto topped off with some fried capsicum, spec and mushrooms. Funny thing was it was one of the best meals we've had!
