After a long flight from Hawaii, we finally arrived in Canada. We crossed through immigration without any problems and felt happy to be visiting the country we intended to live in permanently one day. After collecting our baggage, we passed through the arrivals section to be met by our friend Brad, who had been waiting for us to arrive to collect us. He had kindly offered to put us up at his place near Toronto for the duration of our stay.

As we drove from the airport, I was surprised by how familiar it all felt. The fields looked similar to England and the roads, although wider and despite the fact we were driving on the wrong side of the road, looked just like that from back home. As we got closer to Brad's house, we had begun to enter a more tranquil, countryside area. We pulled into the driveway and grabbed our bags from the car.

The house was beautiful, with a huge garden and a large pond. There was even a vegetable garden where Brad and his family had been growing their own vegetables! We were exhausted by this point, having only slept for a few hours but when we were offered the chance to walk into the neighbouring Niagara Escarpment, we could not resist! The Canadian countryside has always had a certain appeal to it, so we pushed aside our fatigue and spent an hour or so climbing around in the forest!
When we returned, we learned that Brad had planned to cook us barbequed chicken for dinner. What a treat! We sat outside chatting next to the barbeque, then tucked in for a delicious meal. With full bellies, we went to bed and slept soundly ready for our first full day in Canada, and a trip to the famous Niagara Falls!
