Last days in Rockhampton

On Sunday the 2nd of October we moved into the Riverside Caravan Park after having cleaned up the house from our farewell party and moving some furniture and other things we had sold. We had a few problems with this: the fridge got damaged getting it onto the ute we were using, and things always take longer than you think! Thanks to all the people who helped take down the marquee, and to Gavin and Belinda for the use of them and their ute, we really appreciate it!
The Riverside Caravan Park is quite centrally located in Rockhampton, and as the name would suggest it is located on the riverbank. We are staying in a 2-bedroom cabin, which is fine if only we didn’t have as much stuff as we did! In the house we had a 520 litre fridge-freezer, and now we have a bar fridge (127 litre), so that was a bit of a shock! There is a kitchen, lounge/dining, and bathroom.
This whole week we have spent cleaning the house and finalising details such as cancelling the phone and electricity, sorting more stuff and posting more boxes to Meppel. We sent six boxes in total, three more than we had originally planned…The girls have been in daycare all week, and we have been using the pool almost every afternoon after picking them up. We have also done some shopping, and caught up with a few more people.
Tomorrow is our last day in Rockhampton, and we will spend it racing around all day by the looks of it! The kids will be in daycare, Merv has to get a hair cut, he has to sign some paperwork at Bunnings, we have to pick up a form from our real estate agent to get our bond (deposit) back. Then we are having lunch with Alissa and Jason, dropping off a few gifts for a friend who is having a baby and catching up with Marlene. Then we are having dinner with Stef and Jen, and the rest of the night will be spent packing the car as we are hoping to leave around 8am on Saturday, but knowing us it will be closer to 9… The drive on Saturday will take about 5 hours I’m told, and then Merv wants to show us around Moranbah where he grew up. That will take about 5 minutes they tell me! The first night we’ll spend in a motel called the Drovers Rest Motel.
