Things are really ironic...while I was sitting in Hong Kong Airport last night waiting for my flight I was thinking how well everything had been on this trip and that exactly that....I never arrive at check in for a flight or a hotel saying "Excuse me....did you make a booking with us?" and that this is exactly why I'm booking everything through the travelagent that I happen to use...even though they are slightly more expensive then others, but nothing goes wrong......
Four hours later....at 1.30 pm. I arrived at Siam Beverly Hotel, Bangkok. Presented myself at the front desk, handed over my passport and said "You should have a booking for Michael Holm".....that's when my heart stoped beating for ten seconds when the woman on the other side of the counter said.
100.000 scenarios started showing up in my head this minute....none of them pleasent by the way.
But life started to feel a little easier to tolerate when she said "But I have a room available to give you...then in the morning we have to clear this with your travelagent, but you must be prepared that if we dont clear it, we will charge you 1.500 THB / night".
I could live with that...after all... I had the money, and then I'd just take the fight with the agency once I got home....
So in the end....I got a bed to sleep in this night as well..
Thank God I was tirred as hell because had I not been this exhausted then I probably wouldn't have closed an eye but luck meant that I was and did sleep all night.
Went up in the morning to have breakfast and then proceeded to the front desk to check if they've got any news. That's when I was completely paralyzed they told me that they could not get in contact with my travelagent's Bangkok partner before tuesday as sunday and monday were national holidays. Not good because that also meant that I had no budget for the last days untill the day before I was supossed to go home.
But ofcourse at one point had I allready saved some money... my plan right from back home, was that tomorrow I was supossed to go to Tiger Temple. But during the last night in Hong Kong where it took me a while to fall asleep I started thinking that tiger temple was really good as long as I'm single. But now, I'm engaged and I have a responsibility to my fiance as well.
But noone should rob me completely of a wild life experience, so I decided to go to Dunsit ZOO in the northern part of Bangkok. Honestly it disapointed me a bit given all the praises it has recived on the Bangkok Tourism Board website www.bangkok.com for one the park is not really clean, it's very very dirty, and many of the animals has way to little room..for one the elephants which are Thailands pride are stuck together like tuna in a can, and that sadens me to see.
But on the positive side, I acctually got a close encounter with a couple of tigers...onley theese had a glasswall between them and me, and the park also featured two white bengal tigers which are really rare to see, a first for me anyway!
