Bangkok seen from the evening dinner cruise om the Chao Phraya.

Hey guys,

So this is Bangkok? Completed 10,5 hours of flying and has set my feet on Thai soils now. Even though I've used SAS a lot of times on regional routes, this is the first time I've used them overseas - and I have to say they dissapoint me a bit. Don't get me wrong, the service onboard SAS aircrafts are wonderfull and it still is - but in my opionion the Airbus 340-300 they use for their Copenhagen - Bangkok route is a bit to small and narrow for such a long flight. But heck I know - it's easy being Singapore Airlines and Cathay and buy large aircrafts, because asian econnomy is diffrent then scandinavian - but still....

Started a little bad though...I couldnt get a window seat.

All was allready taken (and I checked in more then 3 hours prior to departure) however since it was so I chose to sit in the row where nobody was seated so far - and even though I wasn't lucky with the window seat I did get the entire row for myself dureing the entire flight. So guess who took advantage of the queit wheater with onley little turbulence and slept a few hours useing all four seat for bed? yup me....u guessed right mate :)

Arriveing in Bangkok was quite stressfull....fuck there's a lot of people and activity. Every inch of the airport is crowded...but imigration, baggage reclaim etc. acctually went quite fast considering the amount of people. Then passed customs - and this is where the fun starts - several banks, cellphone providers, and who knows what else on a very narrow hallway.

..and everyone ofcourse has to take out cash for the cab....typically...this creates stress because noone can pass anyone and everyone is annoyed at anyone! hehe

Then out the door....and the first thing you see is ten guys comeing towards you screaming Taxiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii? Unfortunately I did need a taxi - but not at 900 THB - I got it down to 450 but even then decided it was to much to pay for a taxi in an asian I went for the metered one (which you should allways do) and ended up paying 300 THB :)

For tonight I had booked a dinner cruise on the Chao Praya River and should call the tour operator upon arrival to arrange for pick up. At this time it was 4pm. and she said - yes we are comeing to pick you up at 5pm. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck - now I was in a fucking blastered hurry.

traditional thai dance made a cultural finish to the dinner cruise.
...there were two things I needed beyond anything at this point - a cup of coffee and a shower. So the solution was - grabb the phone call room service and rush under the shower and so I did. I was through drinking my coffee and haveing my shower at 4.45 just in time to get down to the lobby sign up for a safe deposit box before I was picked up.

Then as I stood there at the pier waiting for the boat to come in a major storm with thunder, lightning, and very heavy sea started. At first I is it safe to sail in that wheater - and while we had to jump from shore to the boat because the sea was to heavy for the boat to stay right up tp the shore, added some more adventure to it. But no problem and once we were out the storm kinda took off even though the rain and thunder/lightning kept on for hours.

The dinner cruise left from the pier at River City - which looks very interesting for shoping thai handmade art crafts - and I know that when I return here next month I will just have to cast my way through River City again.

Anyway the boat was off around 7pm and I had a fantastic 3 course Thai dinner on the Chao Praya River  with live cultural Thai entertainment along the way.

I allready have tons of pictures - but unfortunately it looks like I have to wait untill I return home to upload them.

See ya tomorrow guys!
