menteng, barrack obama's childhood neighbourhood

menteng is a subdistrict of central jakarta, and situated at the most strategic and cozy location in downtown jakarta. here some diplomats, bureaucrats and the wealthy made the place as their urban home. this taman menteng has been the oasis of jakarta since 2006, as the place was a soccer stadium for years before. this park is not just functioned as floral park, but also providing some sport facilities, such as basket ball field, open air footsal field and children playground.

recently menteng gained another reputation as the place where the us presidential candidate, senator barrack obama spent his childhood. although he didn't live in this area, but he went to a state and a chatolic elementary school during his 4 years stay in in this upper class area at the 70's.

just beside the menteng park, a fine and affordable hotel operates as an option for those who wish to stay in this fine location within an affordable rate. their rate is rp 270k/nite or around 28 us dollars/nite. cafes including starbucks, drugstore, atm, fine dinning restaurant or food vendors are there, and some operating for 24 hours.
