The last day around town

This day was a free for the class to do some last minute sight seeing and shopping. It was a good thing too, because no one should leave Florence without going to the Ponte Vecchio, Santa Croce, and climbing the belltower of the Il Duomo.
Santa Croce is so beautiful. I stood in front of the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo, I thought I was going to cry. Some of the Church was under renovation, however, it really did not affect seeing anything throughout. I thought I was only going to be there for 2 hours, I ended up staying for more than 4.
After spending hours at Santa Croce, I went to the Il Duomo to see inside the Cathedral and to climb the belltower. I thought I could manage because I had spent about 2 weeks going up and down six flights of stairs to get to my apartment. Needless to say, I was happy they had 3 stopping points in the tower. It was harder than I thought and it was over 400 steps. However, when you get to the top, you forget about your pain because the view is absolutely breath taking!!!
We went left the Duomo and walked on the Ponte Vecchio and then to the Piazza della Signoria. There is several statues in this plaza including a replica of the famous David in its original spot. After a day of sight seeing, the group got together for one last dinner in Italy.
