Mermaid Hunting...

There are mermaids scattered all over Norfolk, all of them painted/decorated differently. "Mermaids on Parade," like the cows all over Chicago, but with Norfolk logo was hashed out by a businessman as a way to attract tourists and revitalize the city. Why mermaids? Probably because of Norfolk's long history as a port and shipbuilding/shipyard center. Perhaps a cuddly take on the mermaid, considering traditionally thought to enchant sailors and bring bad luck...
