Pinching Lauro's naming Blogs after songs idea, this is the general dumping ground for the things that I did before I started blogging properly. The dates will be appropriate, the stories will be vague, and the supporting cast will be a little embarrassed about their dress sense. Such is life.

Stamford

I visited Stamford on my way home from visiting Lisa - for some reason I don't seem to have any pics of that trip, but I do have some of Stamford. [shrugs!].

Stamford, through some little accident of transport history, was a prosperous coaching town that got bypassed by both the railways and the canals, then avoided motorways too.  This has left it frozen, architecturally speaking, in the Regency.  It is quite a popular location for Jane Austin era film sets because of this.  It made its money on coaching and wool, and the church is very pretty.  If you;re in the area, it is lovely, has some swans, and is probably a good option for lunch.
