The last day.

Today was a sad day because it was our last day of vacation. It had been a little over 3 weeks of heaven and the impending doom of getting back to real world started to set in. Despite our feelings of sadness we finished our last day with more beautiful sights.
First stop was Powerscourt House and Gardens. Powerscourt is touted as the finest garden in Europe and it doesn't disappoint. The garden was started in the 1730's by the first Viscount of Powerscourt, Richard Wingfield and was completed between 1858 and 1875 by the 7th viscount. Powerscourt House was gutted by fire in 1974 but parts have been restored including the ground floor which now houses a bunch of really cool shops. Like Mt.
We took our last scenic drive around the old military road through the Wicklow Mountains and then took Haldir back to the rental agency. That was a sad moment dropping off Haldir. Out ending mileage was 10,701 so we put a total of 2,363 miles on car in a little over 3 weeks of driving in Ireland. It was a great trip. Idl like to say it was a once in a lifetime trip but we look a month long trip to the Scottish Highlands in the spring of 2005 (see Euphemy's Scotland blog) and I fully plan on going back to the UK and Ireland as long as I have my health, (which I have) and money (not so much, lol). But my God what an awesome vacation we had!
