Dunmore East and seeing Tom

Dunmore East Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

I know this is old but most people I know don't travel and don't want to hear about other people's travels. It was an amazing trip with many great moments so I thought I'd blog it for anyone who's intersted. Warning, I'm by no means short winded lol.

Dunmore East and seeing Tom

Me and Tom.

Left Kinsale this morning to head towards Dunmore East another perfect seaside town. Several years earlier Kerry, Leann and I had been on a bus tour of Ireland and one of the optional excursions had been an evening of Irish music with Tommy Commerford. We had a great time and Kerry and I had kept in touch with Tom afterwards.  We told him we were coming over for vacation and would be in the Waterford area and we made arrangements to come to the pub he was performing at and see him and the show. The pub was called the Cozy Thatch and is one of the oldest and quaintest pubs I've ever been in. It is the quinessential Irish pub, low ceilings, peat fire burning and it even has a wake room in back. The perfect place to sit and enjoy a pint (or 2) of cider and listen to Tom sing traditional Irish songs. After the show we hung out with Tom for awhile then headed back to Dunmore East for more pubs and cider.

We were staying in a bed and breakfast called McAllister's that Kerry really liked because that's her last name and I really  liked because they had a really cute cat named Smokey. The b & b was 1 block from the beach and you  could see a lighthouse in the distance it was a perfect place.
