Hello Chiang Mai

5.30 A.M.  the light is turn on..hurrr..Lamphun!! I see the plant outside. Then the bus hostress start to surve us a millk,snack and cold towel.  Then i start to wake my eye 100%...and not so far...we arrive Chiang Mai!!  Hello Chiang Mai !!!

The schedule: Someone (Ay cousin) will pick us at the bus station and bring us to Tha Pae Gate (Central of Chiang Mai to offer the food to the monk).

Before i continue to discrip my trip..i would like to explain about Songran Firstly.

What Songkran is???

Songkran is Thai Traditional New Year, it's time for us to spend  with family, friend for the religious ceremonies, merit-making, of course, splashing and throwing water with fun.

In the past, Songkran is a refresh solution to " beating the heat" due to during April is the hottest period in Thailand..that's why they create this activity!!  For the songkran Festival, we will celebrated as nationholiday on April 13-15.

If i am not wrong, i think the country around Thailand as Laos and Cambodia is also celebrate festival similar to Thailand but they might use the difference name.

You know the important day of Songran is April 13 because it's Thai New Year. actually at this day, we will wake up to early to arrange a variety of food to offer for the monk at the temple or on the way that the monk passing, at the same time duing you offer the food for the monk u will find that the Bird seller is arround u, because Thai people believe that after we offer the food to the monk, weshould release some life.

. as bird life ( therefore u mightbe find the seller bird around, or the fish seller around u incase of that located nearly to the river).  After back to home, we have to bath the Buddha image by using Thai Perfume , we call "Nam Op". Actually for the Buddhist we have  one Buddha Image in our house (at less). At the same day or the next day, we have to go to see the elder to pray respect to them by prouring water on their hand  (That water have to mix with thai perfume, some flower as jusmine).

This is only raughly information that i have been done and still done if i am at home..some think mightbe changed and adapt but the one thing that i never change is offering the food to the monk, bath the Buddha image...it's should do, because we believe that we have to learn to give ..as offer the food... and clean up our mind once a year...as we bath the Buddha image..it's really feel good. I guarantee.
