Arriving in Caticlan
Woke up at 3AM. Took a shower (you heard it right), packed my stuff and left for the airport at 4:30. I resolved to take only a few clothes with me, since I won't be needing much anyway. All my stuff fit inside my bag so I could carry it with me all the time.
I wanted a window seat so I made sure to come to the airport early. My flight's at 5:30 so I figured an hour before departure was early enough. However, when I was already checking in, the staff told me that the last call for boarding has been made 15 minutes ago! I was tempted to tell her: "Honey, this is Cebu Pacific, right? That means I'm 2 hours early because you guys are always late!" Then I realized, it was the first flight of the day, so the plane has been there since the previous night.
Anyway, they still let me check in although I had to rush because the line for paying the terminal fee was quite long. Then there's the final security check before you can get to the waiting area. After the check, I went straight to the boarding gate for my flight and found out that I was the last passenger that the plane's waiting for. Unbelievable! So an attendant ran with me to the plane which was quite far from the gate and I was relieved when I saw that they're still there waiting. Whew! Why does it always happen to me? *trying to point a finger at the airline*... I almost braced myself for a mid-air boarding. Now THAT could've been exciting.
The plane took off on time (miraculously) and I've noticed that it wasn't full.
Weird. Maybe no one wanted to fly too early. The people on board were all excited from the way they noisily talk about the trip. Like me, it's probably their first time in Boracay too. Since I got a window seat, I was able to watch the sunrise. It was the best I've seen in my life! Didn't think a sunrise can be that beautiful (I favor sunset more). I wondered if people on the ground could see it the same way as we can high above. It was really marvelous. I tried to take pics and hopefully those I took were good enough to capture its beauty. We landed at 6:05AM, 25 minutes earlier than scheduled. Another surprise! Cebu Pacific is redeeming itself to me lol. Anyway, Caticlan Airport is very small and I'd say not state-of-the-art. But who cares? We're all there for the beach anyway. Outside, I asked some airport staff where I can get a tricycle ride to the wharf. Since I was alone, I paid P40 for the fare, although I found out that one can actually walk the distance to the wharf. At the boat terminal, I paid P20 for the fare, and P50 each for terminal fee and environmental fee (whatever those are). I had to go out of the terminal three times because I wasn't aware of those fees and the payment window was located outside of it. I looked like a fool there, but hey, it was my first time.
We waited until the boat was full, then we went on our way. While we're sailing, it started to rain, and I got a brief feeling of disappointment. Please don't rain too much! But it stopped, eventually. After around 10-15 minutes, we got off at the other side. It's Boracay Island, baby!!!
