from the highway in Hoboken
This was my first time to Manhattan and I was excited. A co-worker organized an overnight bus trip staying right in the city. We left south of Pittsburgh at 6am, Saturday with a couple of pit stops and lunch before approaching Hoboken, NJ. Renee (the lady who put it all together) put in the dvd of Grease for us to watch & one from last years trip. The approaching of a big city was definite as traffic was heavy and slow even on a Saturday morning. Then we could see the outline of the city across the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. The bus took a wrong turn and we made a U-turn at the Meadowlands Arena, which had a flea market going on. We then took the Lincoln Tunnel, which goes under the Hudson River and connects New Jersey with Manhattan. I thought this was pretty interesting, although the view isn't as stunning coming out of the tunnel like it is from the Fort Pitt Tunnel in Pittsburgh. From this point, it took us another 1.5 hours till we reached our first destination of Chinatown. I know one thing, I could NEVER drive in Manhattan unless it was a life or death emergency! Heck I wasn't happy driving in Boston for goodness sake! :)
