taygetos is a mountain next to sparta in the southern peloponese. a 6 hour steep hike brought me and my friend Monika to the 2,407m high "profitis elias" peak, on a good trail. we camped on top for the night and next day we climbed a couple of lesser peaks before returning to sea level. we also visited nearby sparta and gythion.
