@ the largest aquarium in South East Asia - Siam Ocean World

On my last day in Bangkok, I was in a dilemma of whether to join a day trip in Chiang Mai or to visit the Siam Ocean World.  Due to time constraints, I then decided on the latter.  Basically, this was my first time to visit an aquarium, so I was also pretty much excited about it.

Siam Ocean World, which is located in the basement of Siam Paragon, is one of the largest aquariums in Southeast Asia.  Featuring over 30,000 marine animals & 400 species, it was a totally different experience --" educational & overwhelming.

Siam Ocean World has seven different zones.

Guests are greeted with a rare collection of marine creatures, like this huge spider crab, at “Weird & Wonderful.”  Next stop is the “Deep Reef,” then the “
Living Ocean,” followed by a short hike in the “Rain Forest,” then to the “Rocky Shore” where I had the chance to watch how they feed the penguins & other marine creatures.  This area also showcases different types of aquarium, like the Chevy aquarium, which is amazing.  The next attraction would be the “Open Ocean” with shark feeding & diver underwater talk.  With various types of sharks, stingrays & giant groupers, it is Asia's largest panoramic oceanarium.

I thought that was the last attraction but there’s still more -- the “Sea Jellies” zone with various collections of sea jellies, unknown sea creatures & a huge frozen tuna & squid.

But, if you really want a good feel of the marine life, like a face-to-face encounter with the sharks, one can dive in the oceanarium & swim with the sharks!!!  But I didn’t get the chance to do this due to financial reasons (definitely out of my budget, poor me!!!  sob.).  But I had the chance to ALMOST feel these creatures through the glass bottom boat ride & got up close & personal with the stingrays & baby sharks.

After the adventure in the Ocean World, the fun didn’t stop there because admission to the Ocean World includes a virtual reality adventure with the Sanyo 4D-Xventure, which is Thailand's first world-class 4D theater.

I came there early, thus it was not packed.  This allowed me ample time to enjoy the place, having no difficulty approaching the glass windows & having to enjoy the glass tunnel all by myself (well, almost).  Having to walk down the tunnel with the sharks, stingrays & other marine creatures swimming above my head was overwhelming, though the tunnel seemed a little short as it was over all too soon, so I went back & forth the glass tunnel (para sulit!!! lol)

At 750 Baht, quite expensive, but it was all worth it.
