Admittedly, Alaskan Winters are not for everyone. But for those who are so inclined, a world of white awaits.

The best Aurora of our Alaskan vacation

Our first night at the Northern Sky Lodge brought the best aurora of our Alaskan vacation.  We were awakened about 1:30 am by fellow guests.  We rushed outside and found ourselves directly underneath an aurora that was so bright that you could read a newspaper under it.  It was interesting to notice that the only glow in the sky was from the stars and the northern lights.

Mushing outside Fairbanks

One of the things on our "must-do" list was mushing (dog-sledding).  From the cacaphony of excited dogs barking as they were being tied down, to the near-silence of the breeze and the dogs paws on the trail, this was a wonderful experience.
