Day 3: Driving on the George Parks Highway to Healy

On March 3rd, we exchanged our rental car for a 4-wheel-drive Ford Escape, and began our journey up the George Parks highway, to Denali National Park, and to our bed and breakfast in Healy.  The scenery was a stunning, winter landscape, punctuated by clear, blue skies.  We saw a herd of maybe 60 or 70 caribou beside the road, grazing on lichens.  Mt. McKinley wasn't visible on this day.  The only clouds in the sky were the ones that obscured Denali from view.
