Admittedly, Alaskan Winters are not for everyone. But for those who are so inclined, a world of white awaits.

Day 1: Iditarod in Anchorage

We spent our first night at "A Wildflower Inn" B&B.  On Saturday, Erin and I got up before dawn, and then walked into town.  We could hear the sound of excited dogs for several minutes as we approached the staging area.  The canine athletes were as varied in their demeanor as their human counterparts.  Some seemed calm and focused -almost relaxed- as they contemplated what lay ahead for them.  Others were the picture of exuberance, barking and wagging their tails, excited for the moment, and ready for the race.
