internet is a blessing

Our plane left Bangkok at 830am...we arrived in Kota Kinabalu (KK) at 9pm. Hey! When you pay $50 for plane tickets you don't get too picky about the time delays. Thankfully we had enough time in Bangkok to book a guesthouse (via the internet) to come pick us up at the KK airport. What a blessing.
In Bangkok at the bookstore we realized that we should make our Malaysia trip about seeing the wildlife. Borneo has some of the best wildlife on the planet and Malaysian Borneo is the best of that. At the guesthouse we talked to some fellow backpackers and figured out where to go and what to do with our limited time span (remember, this was meant to be a scuba diving trip- we didn't plan enough time for tramping around the jungle).
After looking up some a tour companies on the internet, we booked a place and a tour from the city of Sandakan. We had bought tickets to fly from KK to Sandakan during our mad planning rush in Bangkok. Thank god because the roads in Sabah are bumpy and windy and time consuming. And, like I said, time was not on our side.
We only spent the night in Kota Kinabalu but we hear that the sights around it are lovely. Lots of islands for diving or beach relaxing plus plenty of day trips to tribal villages and short wildlife tours. It's a great place to start from.
