FRIDAY: DAY 8:  My breakfast finally included HASHBROWNS and HAGGIS! YUMMM! It does have a pepper taste to it but I like it and the hashbrowns were good too. Our 1st stop was the MACDUFF MARINE AQUARIUM. There were mostly groups of school children there. The areas included: Coastal Habitats, Rocky Shore & Shallow Waters, Deep Reef & Sea Floor, Sea Lab, Audiovisual Theatre & of course the Gift shop. I enjoyed it & I took lots of fish pictures. I bought a cool green keychain with my name on it. We stopped at the Royal Bank of Scotland to exchange money which the exchange rate was 1.99. UGH! I exchanged $500 and received 247.23 pounds.

Our 2nd stop was in Turriff at DELGATIE CASTLE that dates from 1570. The main tower dates from 1100.

Some rooms still had the original 16th century painted ceilings. It has been in the HAY family for 650 years. One room (bedchamber) featured a stool that was used by MARY, QUEEN of SCOTS in 1562 when she stayed for 3 days and on the wall told the story of Mary that was interesting. We had some Tea and Chocolate cake in the The Laird's Kitchen which is known for the good carrot cake but I love chocolate. According to their website it is the 17th best place in Britian to have afternoon tea! I'm not sure how they came up with that number. lol All I can say was that is was Great!

After that we drove thru TURRIFF & happened to see some of the Wedding party. lol Then we drove to PENNAN and walked around.

Delgatie Castle
Pennan is known for being famous in the 80's inthe film "Local Hero". People come here to make phone calls from the RED Telephone booth that was featured in it. Pennan is a single row of houses and one hotel. They are almost against the sea. It was a cute area. To get to the bottom  we drove down a STEEP hill. That was a little scary.

FALL #2 happened here while I was walking to get closer pictures by the sea. I turned back around & stumbled & fell on the pebbles but held my camcorder up while I fell! It was the Softest Fall I ever had, all while saving the camera! We laughed about that the rest of the day. We then went to CROVIE (well the top of it) & had our pictures taken there. This hill was even steeper & there was no road at the bottom. From the website: "There is no room for a road so residents have to transport their goods from the car park at the end of the village using BARROWS".

GARDENSTOWN was our last stop for the day (except for dinner) where we walked a path from here to CROVIE. There was a sign stating that "This Path is Dangerous" but we walked it anyway. (I think for falling rocks) It was a cute little village also very close to the sea. After this we ate at the COUNTRY INN BIASTRO and I got the PRAWN Cocktail, Steak Pie & Chips. It was tasty.

We got back to the hotel & got ready to hang out at the hotel bar. The reception was here so we got to see A LOT of MEN IN KILTS & BAGPIPE MUSIC! I WAS LOVING THAT!  We sat at the bar talking to the same bartender from the night before, and watching the wedding attendees and taking it all in. The bartender told us we could go in the reception area and that no one will mind. Well I think they did because we ended up getting kicked out! lol  I met a guy that attended the wedding and hung out with him all night. It was a great time!

Aditu says:
I laughed out loud when I read FALL # 2. That day was a blast! What a fun day, remember that scoop your poop sign with the present underneath it, and totally holding our breath going down that road. And remember "hey we're riding thru Collin and listening to Jared" I was hurting the next morning after the wedding, tho not as much as others who shall remain nameless :)
