THURSDAY: DAY 21: We were wakened early by the hard rain pounding on our "sunroof". We had breakfast at 8:30 and got on the A87 & it was still rainy, foggy but warmer. We saw a big Waterfall and Rainbow on LOCH AINART. We got petrol for 36 pounds then got on the A863 to go to DUNVEGAN CASTLE & GARDENS. This dates back to about 1200 and has been in the MacLeod Family for almost 800 years and is the only house in Scotland to have kept the same family (name) and roof through the centuries. It was built on rock & the motto of Clan MacLeod is "Hold Fast". It sits by LOCH DUNVEGAN & the clan's most treasured possession is the FAIRY FLAG which dates back to the 4th and 7th centuries AD & it thought to have helped the family through hard times.
We left there then went to ST. KILDA and stopped at a shop where I purchased a necklace and 2 bars of heather and bluebell scented soaps. We went to Skye Silver & looked around but didn't buy anything. It was rather early when we returned back to Broadford & I decided to use the time to do laundry & did 3 loads of clothes since we still had another 9 days left. There was also internet service at the laundry mat! lol I never saw that before.
We ate at the CLAYMORE LOUNGE and I had SMOKED SALMON & BRIE & it was really good.
We got back to the B&B around midnight since that's when it closed.
