Reindeer in the lower area

FRIDAY: DAY 15:  I felt fine for breakfast and we went to the CAIRNGORM REINDEER CENTRE where we put on WELLIES (boots) and took a short drive to a parking lot. We (about 6 of us) hiked up the mountain with a guide. The hike wasn't that bad, mostly muddy but the wellies were great and kept my feet warm and dry! It took about 30 minutes to get where the deer were. We got to pet and feed the reindeer. They ate out of our hands and were so cute, very tame and friendly! The area was beautiful and so was the experience! There was a sick deer that had to be caught so they could help it.

Our next stop was the CAIRNGORM FUNICULAR RAILWAY that takes visitors to the top of the Cairngorm Mountains. It was really awesome seeing how steep we were actually going.

Cairngorm Mountains
The top had an observation deck with beautiful views and a restaurant! It was cold and VERY windy here; some of the highest wind speeds in the UK were recorded here and you may get 4 seasons in one day! The track is 1982 meters long and is the steepest in Great Britian. On our way down we got to sit in the 1st car which made it even more exciting.

We stopped at a pottery shop in Nethybridge and Suzi bought a cup. Then we went to the OSPREY CENTRE by LOCH GARTEN which is run by the RSPB. We had been reading articles in the paper about these two ospreys, a male and female named Henry & EJ and it was like a soap opera. We got to see them on a TV monitor in the centre. There was also binoculars people could use to watch them and other wildlife, including a squirrel eating and green birds.

EJ and Henry ended up mating while we were there and of course I missed it because I was in the gift shop buying post cards! I heard it only lasted a few seconds anyways! lol I overheard 2 workers talking & one said it was 'sucessful" & the other girl said "How do you know?" and she said "Because EJ went to the side of the nest & had a cigarette." lol It was interesting watching them! The RSPB has a diary each year of them on their website: rspb  We also stopped and took pictures of LOCH MORLICH.

After this, we went to the OLD BRIDGE INN in AVIEMORE for dinner and had Salad and Angus Sirloin Steak that was delicious! For dessert I got a BLUEBERRy CHOCOLATE TORT which was one of the Best desserts I have ever had! I could not stop talking about it.

Went back to the B&B to find out we still had dirty towels and our beds weren't made but the garbage was emptied?!? OK We tried to call our hostess but she was not available and it was around 6pm. This is the only B&B that we would NeVeR stay at again. We got ready to go out and Suzi didn't want her hair getting messed up walking to the bar. So silly us walked down the long driveway & part of the road to call a Cab from a payphone to pick us up at our B&B! lol There was no phone in our room & the door to get to the phone inside the B&B was locked. After we made the call from the payphone we hurried (almost a jog) back to the B&B so we wouldn't miss the cab. Oh, the dumb things we do! lol So we got to the CAIRNGORM HOTEL about 9:30pm and I don't recall any entertainment for the evening. What I do remember is an older man looking like SEAN BEAN, one of my favorite actors. Around midnight we left and went into RD'S BAR & BIASTRO because it was more crowded. I think Suzi & I were the oldest ones in here! lol The bartenders were young too and very handsome. We closed the place down & then ended up walking home.
