The Summary
Belém is a four-century-old city with its own way of speaking to the world. Then, boat to Santarém, and some nearby river beached villages. Two more days by boat and there is Manaus, the forest's capital city, and then the wonders of the green at Mamirauá Reserve, in the "várzea" part of the jungle. Always with this silent character leading my thinkings: the river.
