trying out my new snow shoes.....
April 5, 2009
Yippeee it is a beautiful Sunday morning...and we are going out to the trail. I just got my new lime green snow shoes...so I thought I better go give them a try. Ohhhh it was so beautiful and a warm balmy 15c outside...I could hardly contain myself. It had snowed up there about a week prior...and the snow was still fairly soft on the top...but I was ready to go.
Backpack...had my new boots and snowshoes...yiippppeeee!!!!!
When we first got to the snowcat...there was no snow...I am looking around...hay Maywell where is the snow...he just nodded at me and smiled. I was joking of course...but still he just nodded and smiled!
But we started up the snowcat and away we went...and not more than a mile up the road...yippeee!!! snow. Yes I am sick and tired of the snow at home...but when I get to come out to God's country and play...well that is a whole different ball game.
By the time we got up to mile 11 (the logging roads are still im miles not kilometer3s)...well the snow was taller than me:)
We had a blast...we trekked...some skiied back to mile 3 where the cars were parked...some came back up and skiied back down again. The sun was warm and I could smell some of the sap from the tree...I even got a sunburn (No...no picture of me with my sunburn) (grin)....we sat in the middle of the forest had lunch..trekked back down to the snowcat...and then sadly came home.
A few of them are going out again this Easter weekend (I can't go I have to work waagghhhhhh....) But I will go the following weekend!!!!
There is still about 10 feet of snow...so hopefully it will be around another month or so...then when it all melts the flowers come out...and spring will begin up on the mountains!!!!
Was an awesome day!!!!!!!!!!!
