The Shoney's Restaurant

We drove on from Savannah to Statesboro, Georgia for the night. We are still trying to catch up on the day we lost and figure if we drive even another 25 or 50 miles a day, we’ll soon have it done.

The Best Western University Inn in just across the street from Georgia Southern University, a huge green campus that covers square miles. But if you have ever been near that campus you know just how big it is.  Seems like we drove around for nearly a half hour trying to locate either the hotel or someone who could tell us where to go. (Okay, no snide remarks here. :)  It was pretty quiet when we got into town around 7 p.m. so there weren't a lot of people around campus.  Finally we saw a campus police car cruising around, so we flashed our lights at him and pulled him over. (No, we weren't gonna give him a ticket. :)  We asked politely where the hotel was and he graciously suggested that we follow him and he would take us there.  We turned around and followed as he made turn after turn and drove for at least two or three miles through the lush green campus to the edge and then onto a fairly large street.  About a quarter mile up the road on the opposite side was our hotel.  He even pulled into the parking lot with us and wished us a nice trip.

We ate tonight at Shoney’s again. I had Liver and Onions and Judy had Spaghetti. A very good meal. And our waitress Monique was great too. She even promised to join TravBuddy.
