Pigeon Forge, TN and the Great Smokey Mtns.

Pigeon Forge Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

This year we planned to make a cross-country trip from our home in central Califonia to Key West Florida and then back by a slightly more northern route. First plan is about 45 days.

Pigeon Forge, TN and the Great Smokey Mtns.

We made our way to the tourist community of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where Dollywood has become the biggest draw. Wow was it a mess of traffic and people. More miniature golf courses there than anywhere else on earth with the exception of Branson, which I discovered later in this trip. And souvenir sales and western wear outfitters too. I don't know how many hotel rooms there are here, but there is at least one souvenir shop or western wear shop for each one. And nearly as many places to eat. I do think that driving through that area had to be about 8 miles per hour average. We really didn’t go there with any plans of taking in the entertainment, more just to look and see. Then we made our way on south through the Great Smokey Mountain National Park and into North Carolina before returning and heading north to Knoxville.
