This year we planned to make a cross-country trip from our home in central Califonia to Key West Florida and then back by a slightly more northern route. First plan is about 45 days.

Morgan City

One more nice bridge to cross today.

About one hour further south from Lafaette we end the day early in Morgan City. Our hotel for the night is the Best Western. A nice room with two queen beds on the ground floor. But the room is on the back side where there is no parking. So it’s a long walk, with all of our luggage. Geeze, I can moan about anything.

I layed down and decided to take a nap. Five hours later, I found it dark outside and had time to write my blog and download about fifty pictures from today.

Too late to think about eating dinner, we snacked a little and went to bed.

And thanks to Robert (robbyd) from Morgan City for helping me get the location of the bridge in the right place. On a long trip like this its not easy keeping them all straight.

And it turns out that the church we spotted from the bridge is actually the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Morgan City. And thanks to Huib (huibdos) for doing the legwork to find out that information.

Too tired to walk
At the end of a long day’s driving we pulled into the nice, clean Best Western Inns and Suites in Morgan City. I was tired and accepted the room that was available. Unfortunately it was on the back side of the building where there was no parking. That meant hauling our luggage all the way down the corridor from the very end of the building. The room was large, clean, and had two queen sized beds along with all of the other amenities you have come to expect in a three star facility including a microwave and small refrigerator, but AAA rates this as two stars for some reason. In the morning they offer an expanded continental breakfast. So, good and bad here, but the bad was that I had to walk too far. It really is a pretty nice place.
