Grants, NM
May 13, 2008
We drove on west for another hour or so, finally stopping in Grants, New Mexico for the night. Well over 400 miles today, and fast miles at that. The speed limit through much of today was 75 mph. Again we are at a Best Western in what looks like a truckstop town. Several hotels and several restaurants, but little else. The hotel is large and pretty new and has an indoor pool and large indoor areas. Maybe because outdoors it is very windy all of the time. Today, clouds developed and came over us but only one or two small drops hit the ground.
Dinner tonight was in the hotel. They have a pretty nice restaurant offering both American and Mexican foods. We shared an enchilada platter and salad. Very good.

Best Western Suites and Inn Grants
This two-story property with 126 guest rooms on two floors with indoor corridors and a large indoor pool is fairly new and well maintained. They also offer a hot tub, steam room, exercise facility, game room, gift shop and newsstand, ice and vending machines, conference rooms, meeting rooms, cocktail lounge and an on-site restaurant. Our room included Cable TV with HBO, dataport, am/fm alarm clock radio, coffee/tea maker, and an iron and ironing board. In the morning the restaurant serves a full and very complete buffet style breakfast to all of the guests. Even though this facility is one of only a few hotels and gas stations at this off-ramp and crossroads, it was a very nice place to stay.
