At one of our many pit stops.

I cannot remember the exact dates in which I went to SLC. All I know is that I took a couple of days off of work and it took Gabby and I a whole 12 hours to get there! I put a lot of miles on my car. We were supposed to go with a group of friends on a bus, but things didn't work out so well with that bus. At the last minute, any method of transportation was cancelled and we didn't know what to do! I said, "F this! Let's take my car!" I was not going to loose out on one nights hotel cost because of other people. I went to Wals-Mart, got an oil change, bought some snow chains and said, LET'S GO!  Well, I had to wait for my friend Gabby to get out of work first.  So we couldn't leave just yet! We left at about 7 pm on a Thursday.

Well, I knew I had to take the 15 because on my way to Vegas some of the signs also give the miles to SLC.

Passing Las Vegas
I love Las Vegas, it's one of my favorite places in the world! Well, from what I have seen so far. So I was happy that I would get to pass by. When we passed it, of course we stopped, but it was only for gas!  After all the bright lights from the strip the road was really dark and so I couldn't really tell if the scenery we passed was nice. We did pass by this section where the freeway was curvy and we were between what appeared to be mountains. Driving thru that was a bit scary, but I loved driving that winding road. We made several gas stops as well as stopping to get Monster drinks and coffee! I have never driven so long in my life! And the closer we got to Salt Lake, the colder it became!  We finally got to SLC, UT at 7 am the following day! I was exhausted! I just wanted to get to our hotel room and go to sleep!  I couldn't wait for it.
Friday night

We stayed at a hotel called Little America. This hotel was so beautiful! I loved it. The service was excellent and I highly recommend it. Also, it is very reasonable if you don't want to spend a lot on a hotel. I had no complaints. I was really excited when we finally got our room key because that meant I that much closer to actually getting to a bed! Walking back to my car, I saw snowpatches and I told my friend Gabby to look at all the snow, which wasn't a lot because it was really patches of snow here and there.  But to me, it was a lot. I stepped on a patch and took a picture of my shoe print.  Well, we got to the room and closed everything and went to sleep only to be woken up by our friend George calling us and telling us to meet him.

Saturday morning
It was only 11 am and still not enough sleep to make up for the night before. But being that we had never been there, we woke up and got ready. We had a really great time that first day! After meeting with him and getting to know our surrounding areas, we went back to the hotel and decided to take a "nap" and said we would wake up so that we could go dancing later that night.  Well, apparently we were still exhausted because we didn't wake up at all.  Well, with the exception of waking up because I was freezing! I didn't know why that was, so I looked out the window and lo and behold! It was WINTER WONDERLAND! It was snowing!  I was so excited! I wanted to put my shoes on and go out there! I woke up Gabby and told her to come and look out the window.
My car covered in snow!
She was groggy and not as excited. Plus, she'd already seen snow.  So she brought me down a little, but by that time, I was not going out there because I figured I would get even more cold. So we went back to sleep.

In the morning, which was Saturday, we woke up and I told her to get ready quickly so we could play in the snow! Well, she didn't really do that, but I did. I showered and dressed and was out there in a minute! Ok, maybe half an hour, forty five minutes tops! My car was covered in snow when I got out there.  It was so pretty! I took a picture of it. I realized then that I had snow chains and didn't know how to put them on. And then it hit me that I was going to drive in the snow. So for me to never see snow to finally seeing it and having to drive in it, it was pretty much overwhelming! I started to remove the snow from my car with a window wiper that I carry when the couple in the room next to us came out.

1st time out in snow!
We started talking and they were actually from Colorado, so I asked them how to put the chains on. It wasn't snowing at that time, I just wanted to be cautious. He told me I didn't need them since it wasn't snowing and that if I drove slowly I would be fine. And since we were close to everything, I decided that he knew best. And he was right. I swear to you, I was driving no faster then 15-20 mph. I wasn't taking any chances!

We went to this all day convention but all that time, i just wanted to leave and go out and play in the snow! When we left at noon to go eat lunch it was snowing! I wanted to cry! That was the first time in my life that I has seen snow fall and actually experience it falling on me. It was a great feeling.

The flakes where HUGE! It wasn't that cold, either. I was expecting the temperature to be super freezing! It was in the low 30's. We were walking looking for a place to eat and we found this place called The Blue Iguana.  It is a Mexican restaurant and really excellent! When we went back to the convention, we had plenty of time to look around and take pictures and just act like kids. We made a snowman, well, half of one. We also threw snow at each other.  Then we had to go back to our meeting. But when we came out we went to the mall. It was time for some SHOPPING!  WHOOO!

I bought a really great purse, and just enjoyed the mall itself. My friend slipped on the frozen ground and did the splits! I didn't dare laugh because then the same thing would happen to me! But it was really funny! The mall has small and large fire pits to warm yourself with.

The half snowman! Well, if you could call it that!
And because it was during Christmas time, they had the decorations going on.

That night we decided to go dancing to a club that was down the street from our hotel called Bliss.  The decor at that club was very nice.  They could have played different music styles instead of hip-hop and only that. I appreciate some 80's and alternative as well. On the walk back to the hotel room we had to be very carefull of not slipping and falling on that frozen  ground. But you know, catching yourself from falling is just as hurtful and funny as actually falling! Which happened a few times to the both of us.  And just so you know, the drinks in Utah are very watered down! Not by a little, but a lot!

Our last morning in Utah we took our time getting dressed and packing our things.

We were not going to be rushed! We went to eat breakfast at Denny's and on our way back to my car we saw icicles on the side of the restaurant.  We were finally ready to leave because we had a long drive ahead of us.  And since it was early in the morning we were actually able to see where we were going and enjoy the scenery. I loved every thing I saw even though all of it was white with snow. It was a new experience for me and I will love it forever!  Oh, by the way, we decided to spend the night in Vegas on our way back as a last minute pit stop. Had a great night there as well.
