Yelapa! Yelapa pain more like!
April 11, 2008
So this day me, Emmy and her father George had booked a boat trip to go down to Yelapa. It cost us 440 pesos each so about $44 or 22GBP. We had to be at the dock for 9am so we left our accomodation at about 8.20, you have to pay a small port fee (15 pesos) to go through the port, we joined the line for the Princess Yelapa tour, the boat was pretty cool, we ahd a photo taken as we got on and George wore the captains hat, it is such a funny photo.
Theres 3 decks to the boat, we went straight down to the bottom and had some melon for breakfast and we went onto the next level up and sat down and waited for everyone to climb aboard. There were only about 30 people on the whole tour, we set off for Yelapa just after 9, they served us free drinks so i stuck to the cola as im not a fan of beer, George sank about 4 in the first half an hour, and he had to keep using the bathroom, everytime i turned around he was gone!
George is such a funny character, he is hilarious, he was born in Montana but has a real southern drawl and he really is just so funny, one of the funny things I remember about him on the mexico trip was when he said to me: 'Now tell me Dan, was you jealous when Elton John got married? or are you holding on for George Michael?' Omg i could not stop laughing for about 20 minutes!
Anyways back to Yelapa, on the boat were about 5 Mexican girls only about 11 - 13 years old who were taking advantage of the free drinks and had sunk more margaritas than i could count, jeez these girls can outdrink me anyday haha! The boat stopped off so a few people could snorkle but the water was so brown i was like hell no im not going in there! and only 2 people out of 30 wanted to snorkle!
Next we approached the three archs - 3 very large rock formatiomns in the sea and thats when i suddenly saw 2 dolphins jumping out of the water in front of us, id never seen dolphins before so watched them very quietly as no one else had noticed then somone shouted 'dolphins!!!' and everyone rushed to the front to see them and then they were gone :(
We finally reached Yelapa about midday and we had to climb onto a small water taxi which was gonna take us to the shore, i tried to avoid sitting near George as last time ghe did the tour 3 years ago he slipped and fell into the water whilst holding everyones bags and towels! haha. The taxi took us in and we had to jump out about 2 metres from the shore as the waves were bad, i jumped out first and ran for the shore and Emmy and George followed, some man fell over and he got so wet and just as he stood up a big wave hit him and he got even wetter bless i felt sorry for him but it was kinda funny! We had literally just got on the beach when we were met by 3 mexicans all holding enormous IGUANAS! I was bit disorientated and i was like 'wtf!"
so i regained my senses and was like yay i wanna hold the iguana and one of the men gave me the Iguana and Emmy took a photo on my camera and the mexican grabbed the iguana back and it scratched my arm as he yanked it off and he said '50 pesos!', i was like 'what you put him in my arms, you didnt tell me i had to pay for it' but i didnt wanna argue so i handed over the 50 pesos, watch out for this in Mexico, its happened to me a few times now.
Me and Emmy paid to go horse/donkey riding up through the village, I used to go horse riding when i was young but had to quit as my mum found out she was allergic as she kept feeling ill when she was near them! iv always been a bit scared of horses, im not sure why even though i used to ride them. So Emmy rode a horse and i rode a large donkey but he was so cute and his name was Cookie. He was a fast little guy aswell, Emmy's horse struggled to keep up with us! I
wasnt paying attention as Cookie manoeuvred a corner and he walked me right into a tree branch and incurred two more injuries for the day a scratch on my face and on my other arm! Cookie took us up to the waterfall, except it had dried up and was barely dripping but we took a few photos anyway. We walked around while the guide tied the horse and donkey up. There was a guy selling tourist stuff there and he was really insistant and he was really bugging us and he said 'maybe this for your mother' and i said to him in a loud voice 'MY PARENTS DIED IN A PLANE CRASH!' and he calmly said 'maybe this for you then?' and i laughed, i didnt tell him i was joking though o em gee, im going to hell now fo' sure!
Cookie took me back to the shore and i had a bit of a sore bum when we got there, nothing new there haha ;s me and Emmy met up with George who was sunbathing with a Corona and we lounged around until we had to leave about 3, we had to get a water taxi back to the boat and I hit my head on the boats ceiling as theyr really low and i had a big cut and it bled bad so i went to the toilet and managed to stop it bleeding but i had a big headache now and felt really sick so the journey back to Puerto Vallarta was hell, i really felt like I was going to be sick and i wanted to shower so bad, yucky bloody hair. I had a good day but had injuries to show for it!
